FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CONTACT: Lt. Albergo; 760-839-4901

On Friday night, 2-8-13, officers from the Escondido Police Department conducted a DUI Saturation Patrol. During the evening, two drivers were arrested for DUI. One of those drivers was stopped by officers near Valley Parkway and Interstate 15. The man was driving erratically and ran two red lights.  While that driver was being arrested for DUI, other officers were responding to a call of an injury hit and run accident near Del Lago and Via Rancho Parkway. The description and license plate of the suspected hit and run vehicle matched the individual stopped at Valley Parkway.  He was booked at Vista Jail for felony driving while under the influence of alcohol, felony hit and run, and driving on a suspended license.

Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
