On August 14, 2011, at 9:12 pm, an officer from the Escondido Police Department made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for suspicion of DUI. Officers stopped the vehicle in the area of Bear Valley Parkway and Suburban Hills. As the officer contacted the driver, the driver fled the scene. Officers pursued the vehicle until it eventually crashed into two other vehicles, injuring one occupant. The driver was identified as, Juan Tello Flores, 25, of Escondido (See Photo).

Juan Tello Flores was placed under arrest for the following charges:

CVC 20001(a), Felony hit and run

CVC 23550(a), DUI with prior convictions

CVC 23152 (a)(b), DUI

CVC 14601.2(a), Suspended License

PC 148(a)(1), Resisting Arrest

CVC 2800.3 Felony Evading with Injury

Flores was booked into the Vista Detention Facility and an ICE hold was added to his charges. Flores had five prior Drunk Driving arrests, had been formally deported three times and voluntarily returned to Mexico twelve times.
