The Murrieta Police Department is actively investigating a homicide that occurred within the city limits of Murrieta. The victim has been identified as Laura Perez, age 25. Escondido Police Chief Craig Carter has confirmed that the victim was a Police Officer for the City of Escondido. Chief Carter is quoted as saying, “The men and women of the Escondido Police family and all City of Escondido employees are shocked by the tragic loss of one of our own. We ask for time to grieve and take care of Laura’s family. “
Laura Perez was hired by the Escondido Police Department in October, 2013 and leaves behind a four year old daughter. All inquiries involving the criminal case should be addressed to the Murrieta Police Department.
Chief Carter will hold a press conference on Friday, July 25th at 1:30PM at the Escondido Police and Fire Headquarters in the Community Room. The purpose of the press conference will be the Chief’s opportunity to provide information to the Escondido community about this dedicated, young police officer.
