The Escondido Police Department wishes to remind everyone of about free online program offered by the department that will allow Escondido residents to track Escondido’s registered sex offender population. The program, OffenderWatch, is the nation’s leading registered sex offender management and community notification tool and can now be reached through the Police Department’s website at http://police.escondido.org.  The program was originally launched in September 2011 and can still utilized by citizens.

Utilizing OffenderWatch, information regarding the latest status and whereabouts of Escondido’s registered sex offenders can now be forwarded to subscribers via the OffenderWatch email notification system. Through these email alerts, OffenderWatch provides Escondido residents with accurate and timely information by updating changes made to an offender’s status.

The department encourages Escondido residents to join the hundreds of citizens who are taking advantage of the OffenderWatch email alert system. By doing so, residents may confidentially register multiple addresses within the city limits of Escondido that can include schools, playgrounds, churches, nursing homes, daycare facilities, workplaces and personal gymnasiums to name just a few. Residents utilizing the system will then receive email alerts indicating a registered sex offender has moved to within two miles of any address they have registered with the OffenderWatch system.

All user information (names, email and physical addresses) for this service will remain confidential. Residents wishing to learn more about OffenderWatch and other vital services offered by the Escondido Police Department may visit our website at http://police.escondido.org.

To report any suspicious activities in your neighborhood, you may contact the Police Department directly, or you may make an unidentified call on our Anonymous Tip Line at 760-743-TIPS (8477) or via our Web site at police.escondido.org.  For breaking news releases, please follow the Escondido Police Department on Twitter at Escondido_PD.
