FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

POINT OF CONTACT: Lieutenant Neal Griffin, 760-839-4444

At 3:36 AM, 06-23-13, Abdul Ibrahim, 67, of Escondido, walked into the Escondido Police Department and spontaneously volunteered that he had “killed his wife with a knife.”  Officers were dispatched to the Ibrahim residence located at 1165 Catspaw Place, in Escondido.  Officers made an emergency entry into the home and located a woman in a bedroom who had been stabbed numerous times in the upper body.  Paramedics, who were also dispatched to the scene, determined the woman was dead.  The woman has since been identified as Shambanoo Ibrahim, 64.  There were no other persons in the home.  There were no signs of forced entry or a struggle of any kind.  Abdul and Shambanoo Ibrahim have resided in the home for many years and were married for more than forty years.

Mr. Ibrahim has been arrested and was booked into the Vista Detention Facility for the crime of murder.  Information on this case was initially withheld by Escondido Police Department, pending the notification of family members. Those notifications have now been made. This investigation is continuing.
