Ruben Anthony Cepeda is found and taken into custody for double-homicide case.

After Cepeda's attack, EPD detectives tried to find Cepeda and were not able. They subsequently obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On 04.24.12, EPD detectives arrested Jessie Lopez on a charge of being an accessory to the double-homicide committed by Cepeda. CLICK HERE for the News Release on Lopez’s arrest.
On 06.11.12, at about 2:00 AM, EPD received information from US Marshal’s that Cepeda had been captured in Mexico. Cepeda was released to the US Marshal's Office on the US side of the US / Mexico International Border.
Cepeda’s arrest was the result of a relationship and agreement between the Mexican authorities, US Marshal's Office, and EPD. San Diego Sheriff’s Department also assisted early in the investigation while detectives were searching for Cepeda when EPD thought he was in the US.
The apprehension of Cepeda could not have happened without of the cooperation of the Mexican authorities. Mexican authorities located and apprehended Cepeda while he was in Mexico and turned him over to US authorities at the border. Cepeda is a US citizen.
Cepeda was taken into custody as per a $1M Arrest Warrant that EPD had obtained days after the double-homicide.
Cepeda was released to EPD detectives and brought back to the Escondido Police Department for questioning and processing.
Cepeda was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on two counts of PC 187 (A) First Degree Murder.
