FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.  CONTACT LT. ALBERGO @ 760.839.4901

On Sunday Morning, 07.29.12, at about 1:30 AM, a pedestrian was crossing Lincoln Ave near Beech St.  He was struck by a vehicle that had been travelling west on Lincoln Ave.  The driver did not stay at the scene and instead drove away.  The pedestrian later died.

EPD intially thought that the suspect hit-and-run vehicle was a white SUV or grey truck with a camper shell.

EPD now believes that the suspect hit-and-run vehicle is a Toyota 4Runner.  The model year is not certain- possibly between 1991-1995.  This suspect vehicle has a chrome strip around the wheel wells.  The photograph shown on this News Release is a picture of a similar type of vehicle that is wanted for this case.  This is not the actual suspect vehicle.

EPD is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect hit-and-run vehicle and any driver or occupant information.

If anyone has information, please call EPD @ 760.839.4722 or Traffic Investigator Nick Kluka @ 760.839.4966.
