14-YEAR-OLD BOY KILLED IN HIT AND RUN COLLISION
On June 25, 2022, at 9:27 p.m. the Escondido Police Department received a 911 call reporting a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Bear Valley Parkway and Grand Avenue. Escondido Police Officers arrived within minutes and discovered a 14 year-old pedestrian lying in the roadway. The involved vehicle had fled the scene.
Officers immediately began CPR until the Escondido Fire Department arrived. Paramedics transported the boy to Palomar Medical Center where he later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
Investigators determined the boy had been crossing east in the crosswalk of Bear Valley Parkway at Grand Avenue and was struck by a vehicle which had been traveling north on Bear Valley Parkway. There are no further details at this time.
The investigators worked through the night and are continuing the investigation today. This primary investigator on this collision Officer Paul Smyth and anyone who may have witnessed this incident is encouraged to call Officer Smyth at 760-839-4423.

NIÑODE 14 AÑOS MUERTO EN COLISIÓN DE ATROPELLO Y FUGA
El 25 de junio de 2022, a las 9:27 p.m. el Departamento de Policía de Escondido recibió una llamada telefónica al 911 reportando una colisión que involucra a un peatón en la intersección de Bear Valley Parkway y Grand Avenue. Los oficiales de policía de Escondido llegaron en cuestión de minutos y descubrieron a un peatón de 14 años tirado en la calle. El vehículo involucrado había huido de la escena.
Los oficiales inmediatamente comenzaron la RCP hasta que llegó el Departamento de Bomberos de Escondido. Los paramédicos transportaron al niño al Centro Médico Palomar, donde más tarde murió a causa de las lesiones sufridas en la colisión. Los investigadores determinaron que el niño había estado cruzando hacia el este en el cruce peatonal de Bear Valley Parkway en Grand Avenue y fue golpeado por un vehículo que había estado viajando hacia el norte en Bear Valley Parkway. No hay más detalles en este momento.
