ARREST MADE IN FATAL HIT AND RUN COLLISION
On June 25, 2022, the Escondido Police Department began investigating a hit and run collision that resulted in the death of a 14-year-old Escondido boy. After combing through physical evidence, witness statements and law enforcement databases, investigators identified the vehicle involved in the collision as a black 2021 Lexus RX350.
At about 1254 p.m. on June 26, 2022, investigators identified Jon Edwin Kiesel, a 70-year-old Escondido resident, as the driver in the fatal hit and run collision. Kiesel was taken into custody and is being booked into the Vista Detention facility for felony hit and run, California Vehicle Code section 20001(b)(2).
A preliminary investigation has determined the boy was crossing east in the crosswalk of Bear Valley Parkway at Grand Avenue against “no walk” signal and was struck by a vehicle which had been traveling north on Bear Valley Parkway on a green traffic signal.

ARRESTO REALIZADO EN COLISIÓN DE ATROPELLO Y FUGA
El 25 de junio de 2022, el Departamento de Policía de Escondido comenzó a investigar un choque y fuga que resultó en la muerte de un niño de 14 años de Escondido. Después de revisar la evidencia física, las declaraciones de los testigos y las bases de datos de las fuerzas del orden, los investigadores identificaron el vehículo involucrado en la colisión como un Lexus RX350 negro del 2021.
Aproximadamente a las 12:54 p.m. el 26 de junio de 2022, los investigadores identificaron a Jon Edwin Kiesel, un residente de Escondido de 70 años, como el conductor en el fatal choque y fuga. Kiesel fue detenido y está ingresado en el centro de detención de Vista por un delito grave de atropello y fuga, sección 20001 (b) (2) del Código de Vehículos de California.
Una investigación preliminar determinó que el niño estaba cruzando hacia el este en el cruce de peatones de Bear Valley Parkway en Grand Avenue en contra de la señal de "no caminar" y fue golpeado por un vehículo que viajaba hacia el norte en Bear Valley Parkway en una señal de tráfico verde.
