On Sunday, September 29, 2013, at about 1:36 PM, Escondido Police dispatch was notified of a 3-vehicle collision at the intersection of Washington Ave and Midway Dr.  Officers arrived at 1:38 PM and found an unresponsive adult male (62-year-old Escondido resident) inside of a 2002 Chevy pick-up.  Fire Department personnel had to extricate the driver from the vehicle and transported him to Palomar Hospital with severe head injuries.  Two other persons involved in the collision sustained only minor injuries.

According to witnesses, the Chevy pick-up ran the red light northbound Midway Dr and was struck by another vehicle westbound on Washington Ave.  It is not believed that alcohol was a factor in this collision.
