Escondido Police Awarded Alcohol Enforcement Grant
The Escondido Police Department has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) to battle alcohol-related crime.
The funds will be used to reduce the number of alcoholic beverage sales to minors, inspections of ABC licensed businesses, and to provide LEADS (Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs) training.
The program is designed to keep alcohol away from minors and bring penalties such as fines, suspensions or revocations against businesses that violate the law, as well as those that purchase alcohol for minors.
The Escondido Police Department encourages all owners and operators of ABC licensed establishments to conduct their businesses responsibly, and to help contribute to a reduction in the negative behaviors and incidents associated with the irresponsible use of alcohol.
This project is part of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s Education and Teen Alcohol Enforcement Program Grant, funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
