Escondido Police Investigate Double Fatal Traffic Collision

On March 25, 2018 at about 11:30 PM Escondido police officers responded to a report of a serious injury traffic collision at the intersection of El Norte Pkwy. and Ash St. Officers arrived within one minute to discover that a silver Dodge Charger and a silver Ford Mustang had collided. Escondido fire paramedics arrived on scene and transported two patients to a local hospital.

The investigation into this collision is complex and on-going. However, based on preliminary witness statements and evidence at the scene we believe that one of the involved cars was traveling north on Ash St. and the second car was traveling west on El Norte Pkwy. The adult male driver of the Dodge Charger, and a passenger in the Ford Mustang sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital. The adult male driver of the Ford Mustang and an adult female passenger died at the scene. The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of family. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation. Alcohol may have been a factor in the collision.

The traffic collision investigation is being conducted by Officer Tom Venable of the Traffic Division. Any witnesses are encouraged to call Officer Venable at 760-839-4483.
