At about 8:10 PM, June 5, Escondido PD Officers were called to the area of Del Lago Blvd and Avenida Magoria to assist officers and detectives of the San Diego PD.  It was determined the SDPD had been involved in a surveillance of a felony wanted subject who was suspected to be armed and dangerous.  When SDPD Officers attempted to stop the vehicle driven by the suspect, the suspect attempted to flee but crashed into a wall.  The suspect then emerged from his vehicle armed with two visible firearms. Officers of the SDPD fired on the suspect who was struck and killed.No SDPD Officers were injured.  It was quickly determined that the suspect's vehicle contained several explosive devices.  Officials of the San Diego Metro Arson Strike Team are currently in the process of clearing the vehicle of explosive devices.  Once the vehicle has been declared safe,  Escondido PD detectives will initiate an investigation into the incident.
