At about 8:20 PM, 04-24-13, officers of the Escondido Police Department were called to a residence in the 600 block of McDonald Lane, in reference to a report of a man who had been shot.  When officers arrived on scene they were met in the driveway by a person later identified as Michael Hemphill, 55, of Escondido. A search of the area led to the discovery of a man lying outside a trailer, who appeared to have sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest area.  Officers and later medics of the Escondido Fire Department performed emergency first aid on the victim.  The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.  The victim has been identified as Brandon Sanchez, 35 of Escondido.  The investigation led to the arrest of Hemphill who was later booked into Vista Detention Facility on a charge of murder.
