The Escondido Police Department is currently looking into an incident that occurred after school hours on August 29, 2023 at a North County Transit District (NCTD) bus stop near San Pasqual High School.

On August 29, 2023, at approximately 4:20pm, students from San Pasqual High School boarded an NCTD bus near the school.  Some of the students were causing a disturbance on the bus that caused the driver to shut the bus off and call his supervisor.  Before being able to call the police, the individuals causing the disturbance attempted to exit the bus, but the driver stood in the doorway.  An altercation between the driver and at least two female students occurred.  The bus driver eventually moved, but as the female students exited the bus, the driver pushed one of the students and another altercation began.  One of the female students began punching the 64-year-old driver and then knocked him to the ground.  At least one other female student joined in on the fight. A male student and an off-duty security guard, who was on  the bus, headed to work, moved in and pulled the female students away from the driver.  The students then fled the area.  The driver stated he was uninjured.   

The Escondido Police Department is currenting investigating criminal charges on three female 14-year-old San Pasqual High School students.  The investigation will be forwarded to the Juvenile District Attorney’s Office for a review of charges.  The Escondido Unified High School District is also aware of the incident and is working with the Escondido Police Department.

El Departamento de Policía de Escondido está investigando actualmente un incidente que ocurrió después del horario escolar el 29 de agosto de 2023 en una parada de autobús de NCTD cerca de la escuela secundaria San Pasqual.

El 29 de agosto de 2023, alrededor de las 4:20 p. m., los estudiantes de la escuela secundaria San Pasqual abordaron un autobús del NCTD cerca de la escuela. Algunos de los estudiantes estaban causando disturbios en el autobús, lo que provocó que el conductor cerrara el autobús y llamara a su supervisor. Antes de poder llamar a la policía, los individuos que causaron el disturbio intentaron salir del autobús, pero el conductor se quedó en la puerta. Luego se produjo un altercado entre el conductor y al menos dos estudiantes. El conductor del autobús finalmente se movió, pero cuando las estudiantes bajaron del autobús, el conductor empujó a una de las estudiantes y comenzó otro altercado. Una de las estudiantes comenzó a golpear al conductor de 64 años y luego lo tiró al suelo. Al menos otra estudiante se unió a la pelea. Un estudiante y un guardia de seguridad que estaba fuera de servicio, que estaba en el autobús, se dirigieron hacia las estudiantes y las jalaron del conductor. Luego los estudiantes huyeron del área. El conductor afirmó que estaba ileso.

El Departamento de Policía de Escondido está investigando cargos criminales contra tres estudiantes de 14 años de la escuela secundaria San Pasqual. La investigación será remitida a la Fiscalía de Menores para una revisión de los cargos. El Distrito Unificado de Escuelas Secundarias de Escondido  también está al tanto del incidente y está trabajando con el Departamento de Policía de Escondido.
